Prerequisites

Earth Scroll and the Wooden Golem
- At Passageway, start the Earth Scroll platform challenge after unlocking Earth and using its moves. Collect the scroll; the platforms then disappear.
- Accept the Wise Tree’s heart quest. Buy a torch in Biyo Bay for 25 Ryo and light it with the Amaterasu flames near The Ascent.
- Burn the Wooden Golem gate near The Ascent. Defeat the golem, then speak to the Wooden Man with a Scalpel to remove the Evergreen Heart.
- Deliver the heart to the Wise Tree to receive the Wood Scroll. A traded heart is an alternative.
Where basic Wood ends
The basic unlocks are Wooden Roots, Wooden Spire, Wood Dragon and Wood Seal. The subsequent suppression and forest quests require natural Senju.
